Taggart Holdings Appoints Maurice Harte as an Executive Director
Taggart Holdings Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Maurice Harte as an Executive Director. Mr. Harte was formerly a director of Irish Nationwide Building Society, managing director of AIB Investment Managers Ltd and chief executive of Treasury Holdings Limited. Prior to joining AIBIM Mr. Harte was managing director of Hill Samuel Fagan Ltd. Mr. Harte has over 30 years experience in the investment banking industry and the property market.
Commenting on the new appointment, Mr. Michael Taggart, Chief Executive of Taggart Holdings said, “Maurice Harte’s appointment to our Board of Directors reflects our stated ambition to expand our operations in the Republic of Ireland and the UK market and to develop our commercial property portfolio. Founded in 1989 by two brothers, John and Michael Taggart, the company has been involved in the development of residential and commercial property in the Northern Ireland and the Republic. In recent years the Group has emerged as one of Ireland’s fastest growing house builders and also with interests in the UK, France and New Zealand. A representative office was recently opened in Bratislava in the Slovak Republic to explore development opportunities in Central Europe. This is the forerunner of a number of representative offices, which will be established in a number of the accession countries that recently joined the European Union
For the 14 month period to December 2003, Taggart Holdings made pre-tax profits of €10.8m. Of this €3.3m in pre-tax profits was accounted for from projects in the Republic of Ireland. Group turnover for the period doubled to hit €46m. Operating profit of €12.3m showed a healthy operating margin of 26pc. Shareholders’ funds in the group topped €16m with earnings before tax of €10.8m.
